Dell to abandon Microsoft?

Talks are under way between Google and Dell Executives to bring the upcoming Chrome Operating System, the search engine giant's cloud-centric operating system, to Dell's new computer lineup (according to Dell officials).

Speaking about recent developments in the computer and smart phone sectors, the Dell president for Greater China and South Asia, Amit Midha, told reporters at Reuters that the companies have a close working relationship concerning advancements in the desktop and laptop operating system, as well as mobile software.

Google has set a preliminary release date of Autumn 2010 for its new operating system.

"We have to have a point of view on the industry and technology direction two years, three years down the road, so we continuously work with Google on this," Midha said.

"There are going to be unique innovations coming up in the marketplace in two, three years, with a new form of computing, we want to be on that forefront."

"So with Chrome or Android or anything like that we want to be one of the leaders."

Google's current partners consist of HP, Toshiba and Acer amongst others.
